As if this fixture wasn't tasty enough, Rangers have a major reason to avoid defeat at Pittodrie.
A win for Aberdeen will see Celtic crowned champions of Scotland for a 55th time, equalling the Light Blues' all-time total and claiming a 13th title in 14 years.
It's going to happen, all Barry Ferguson's men can do is delay the inevitable as long as possible.
For Jimmy Thelin's Dins, the battle for third place with Hibs and Dundee United is well and truly on.
A win would see them leapfrog both into the best of the rest position, although whether they stay there depends on how the Hibees fare at home to Dundee in the later kick-off.
The Reds were victorious the last time Rangers visited the North East, coming from behind to win 2-1.
Gers have not been coping well in the league at home recently, so an afternoon away from Ibrox could be just the tonic.
However, there are fewer more difficult places to go that Pittodrie for a Rangers team, and the sold-out ground is set to provide a major test of Ferguson's side, and they've not exactly been acing them on the domestic front in recent weeks.

Domestic disasters
Aside from their 3-2 win at Celtic Park, where they TOOK a 2-0 lead, Rangers have allowed their domestic opposition a two-goal headstart on EVERY occasion under Barry Ferguson, which must leave the former Light Blues captain tearing his hair out.
They face another mountain to climb at Pittodrie this afternoon and, in case that wasn't hard enough of a challenge, they will do so with 10 men after Ross McCausland's early bath.
They've completed comebacks on the road against Kilmarnock and Dundee, but this looks like a bridge too far in this second half.
KEY EVENT
Half-time: Aberdeen 2-0 Rangers
It's half-time at Pittodrie and Aberdeen are in full command with a two-goal lead, thanks to a cracker of a free-kick for Leighton Clarkson and a good finish from Pape Gueye.
Rangers are also down to 10 men after Ross McCausland's two bookings and have a mountain to climb if they're to avoid handing Celtic the title this afternoon.
Half-time: Aberdeen 2-0 Rangers.
KEY EVENT
VAR Decision: CALL CONFIRMED
The original call of out of play is upheld and the goal is chalked off.
That would have been a route back into it for the ten men, but it did look out on the replays.
KEY EVENT
GOAL DISALLOWED: Rangers
Hamza Igamane has the ball in the from a Danilo header rebounding to him at close range, but the flag is up to indicate that Curtis had taken the ball over the byline before his initial cross.
There's a VAR check ongoing.

Pittodrie absolutely rocking
The home team don't want this half to end as we enter three minutes of added time and the rocking Pittodrie faithful feel the same way.
For Rangers, the drive back down the A90 can't come any quicker.
KEY EVENT
GOAL: Aberdeen 2-0 Rangers
Aberdeen have their second and it's Pape Gueye who's given them it with a calm, composed finish from a Morris cross.
He gets by Curtis with relative ease and picks out his striker in the box for a one-touch finish back across Kelly.
Aberdeen 2-0 Rangers and, even this early, it looks like game - and indeed title - over.

'Boydy Boydy what's the score'
Aberdeen fans are loving what they are seeing and are now giving Sky pundit Kris Boyd some grief.
The Ibrox hero is right in the line of sight of the Red Shed from the press gantry and is now subjected to chants of "Boydy, Boydy what's the score?"

Keskinen fires wide
Rangers are looking short down the Aberdeen left and Keskinen works the space for an effort across goal, but the winger can't quite get it to curl enough and it goes wide.
Rangers are at sixes and sevens here and need the half-time interval for a regroup and another Ferguson team-talk rocket.
Still 1-0.

A complete car crash for Rangers
If going a goal down wasn't enough, it's now got a whole lot worse for the visitors.
Expect another dressing room inquest from Ferguson and his coaching team during the break.
For Aberdeen, the game is now there for them to go on and win convincingly.
KEY EVENT
RED CARD: McCausland
Ross McCausland is shown a second yellow for a foul on Keskinen as the Dons winger looked to race clear, but the Rangers wing-back is late and referee Steven McLean is left with little option but to issue a second yellow followed by a red.
It's going from bad to worse for Rangers.
Aberdeen 1-0 Ten man Rangers

Igamane effort saved
Rangers have another effort on target, this time from Igamane. It's a decent cross from McCausland from the right, Aberdeen get the first header on it, but it falls for Igamane, who keeps it up and hits a bit of a tame volley that's meat and drink for Doohan.
Andy MacKay
Morris off-target
Shayden Morris is causing Rangers some seriosus problems down the right and he's able to create a shooting chance once more, but drags it wide of the mark.
Aberdeen are in command, and deserve their lead on the balance of play.
Anthony Evans
Rangers can't have any complaints
They couldn't say it wasn't coming.
Aberdeen have simply shown more energy on and off the ball than the visitors.
Ferguson rung the changes with his line-up and that lack of familarity on the pitch is starting to show.
Andy MacKay
Rangers look for response
Connor Barron is looking for a Rangers response here and he does well to take his touch away from the attentions of the Aberdeen defence, which opens up space for a shot but, after his last one, he elects to try a little dinked pass into the box, but it's straight into the arms of Doohan.
KEY EVENT
GOAL: Aberdeen 1-0 Rangers
Leighton Clarkson takes the free-kick from the corner of the box and shapes to cross, but ends up sticking it in the corner, via a hand from the scrambling Liam Kelly.
That's a great free-kick and Aberdeen lead at Pittodrie.
The champagne is on ice at Lennoxtown, or wherever Callum McGregor and co might have come across the coverage.
Aberdeen 1-0 Rangers.
Andy MacKay
Yellow card
Ross McCausland picks up the first booking, with half an hour played. Free-kick to Aberdeen in a dangerous area.
Anthony Evans
Will Rangers make the Dons pay?
Aberdeen could easily be two goals to the good here.
But Jimmy Thelin's men haven't been calm enough to do the business where it matters the most.
Rangers are yet to seriously threaten Ross Doohan's goal and Ferguson will want to see a lot more impetus in the closing stages of the half.
Andy MacKay
Huge chance
Aberdeen should be two up here, but Dons centre-back Knoester manages somehow to scoop it over the bar from close-range.
The corner had been cleared, but Shinnie followed up well and drove to the byline, his cross was good, and the chance was gilt-edged.
It remains 0-0, but that was a massive opportunity.
Andy MacKay
Another corner
Jensen plays a great ball into the box from the right, which Propper does well to get to. The ball is cleared, but Aberdeen have it back and win another corner.
Andy MacKay
Cortes strike saved
The long ball from the goal kick finds the head-flick of a Rangers player and Cortes is in for a low strike at goal, but it's easily saved.
Anthony Evans
Wild from Palaversa
Ante Palaversa's free-kick from a wide area is dreadul and goes straight out of play.
That has rather summed up the level of quality in the opening 30 minutes at Pittodrie.
Andy MacKay
Aberdeen free-kick
It's in a dangerous position for Palaversa to swing a delivery in, from tight on the touchline, after McCausland's foul.
The Croatian has a wee rush of blood methinks, and it balloons out for a goal-kick.
Andy MacKay
Barron blast goes over
The ball breaks for Connor Barron to have a shot from distance and, as the boos rain down...he fires it high and wide.
Still 0-0.
Andy MacKay
Rangers free-kick
Rangers win a free-kick for a foul on Igamane by Shinnie...and then promptly play themselves into trouble as Nsiala's cross-field ball is a bit short for McCausland, who's under pressure from Keskinen but gets it back to Tavernier, who can clear.
Andy MacKay
Cortes clearance
The ball in is headed clear to find Cortes, who gets it out for a throw-in.
Andy MacKay
Dons corner
McCausland gets the block in on Shinnie as the Aberdeen captain looked to play the ball into the middle, with the ball going behind for the corner.
Andy MacKay
Fernandes downed
Rafael Fernandes is receiving treatment from the physios, and is able to walk off the pitch, but it looks like his afternoon is over, with James Tavernier getting rapidly readied to replace the Portuguese.
He takes the captain's armband from Connor Barron.
Anthony Evans
Morris gets the crowd going
The winger has passed up a great chance to break the deadlock.
But that huge goalscoring opportunity for Aberdeen has sparked Pittodrie into life as the Rangers defence were found wanting.
Andy MacKay
Massive chance
That is a huge opportunity for Aberdeen to hit the front as Shayden Morris collects the ball and, with a slice of good fortune, is in for a one-v-one, but he can only slide his effort wide of the post.
What a chance, but it remains 0-0.
Andy MacKay
Half chance
With so many changes and fringe players on show for the visitors, some ring rust is to be expected and Danilo overcooks a simple ball down the right for the run of McCausland, who keeps it in play, but can only send a tame cross in, which the Aberdeen defence mops up with ease.
Still 0-0 at Pittodrie, with 17 minutes played.
